Start with the brake type
For a disc brake, browse brake pads; for a drum brake, browse brake shoes. Confirm the brake type at the position you are working on before narrowing the selection. If the job concerns a hydraulic connection, use brake lines and fittings and check the specified line and connection details.
Match the fitted system
Have the make, full model, year and variant ready, along with any brake manufacturer or part reference. Read the application notes for the required position and any restrictions. If the brakes have been changed from the original equipment, identify the fitted components before choosing replacements.
Can I use the same brake parts at the front and rear?
Confirm each position separately in the application information. Check any left- or right-hand designation too. A reference listed for one brake position does not establish suitability elsewhere on the vehicle.
Is the model name enough to choose a brake part?
Use the model year, exact variant and the fitted brake system as well. Compare the full part reference and any stated dimensions with the required specification; a similar photograph or familiar model name is only a starting point.
Does one pack cover the whole vehicle?
Read the supplied quantity and contents for the exact reference. A pair, set or kit does not by itself establish how many brake positions it covers. Match the order quantity to the specified parts needed at each position.
How do I choose parts for a modified brake system?
Use the specifications and references for the components actually fitted, together with the relevant vehicle and brake manufacturer guidance. If the fitted system cannot be identified, confirm it before ordering parts against the original vehicle application.
Compare the complete model, year and part number before choosing a part.
