Identify the tank and cap type
For an original tank, check the cap's full vehicle application. For an aftermarket tank, use the tank manufacturer's cap reference or compatibility information. Compare any stated fastening, sealing and venting details; appearance alone is not enough to select a replacement.
Check the item and quantity supplied
Read the description and pack details to distinguish a filler cap, vent cap, hose or accessory pack. Check whether any required seal or hose is included rather than assuming every item shown is supplied. For a tank replacement as well, browse fuel tanks and establish the tank and cap requirements together.
Is a vent cap the same as a fuel filler cap?
Do not treat the names as interchangeable when ordering. Check the item's description to establish whether it closes the tank's filler opening or is a separate vent accessory. Choose the reference for the component you actually need.
Should I choose a vented or non-vented cap?
Follow the specification for the fitted tank and fuel system. Confirm the required type from the tank or vehicle manufacturer's information before buying; a matching shape or colour does not confirm the correct venting arrangement.
Can I use the vehicle model to choose a cap for an aftermarket tank?
Identify the aftermarket tank first and check the cap specified for it. The original vehicle application may describe a different filler opening or cap arrangement. Use the tank reference as well as the vehicle details.
Does the cap come with a seal or vent hose?
Check the exact contents and selling unit. Caps, seals, hoses and accessory packs should not be assumed to include one another. Browse fuel tanks and parts for the wider range or fuel taps if that is the separate tank component you need.
Compare the complete model, year and part number before choosing a part.
