Choose parts for the job

For an oil service, start with oil filters and oils. Match the filter to your engine and use the oil specification in its service manual. Air filters sit separately under air intake and filters.

For piston or cylinder work, browse pistons and rings and cylinders and parts. For work around the crankshaft and connecting rod, use crankshafts and connecting rods and engine bearings. Valves and cams has its own category for valve-train components.

For sealing or cooling work, start with gaskets and seals, cooling or oil and water pumps. Choose the part for the location being repaired; an engine gasket, oil seal and pump repair kit serve different jobs.

Match the engine as well as the vehicle

Have the full model, year and engine capacity to hand, along with the existing part number where you can identify it. Read the application notes for the exact variant. If the engine has been replaced or modified, the vehicle's original details may no longer identify the parts it needs.

Does an engine rebuild kit include everything I need?

Use engine rebuild kits to compare kit options, then check the contents for the exact reference. The word “rebuild” does not establish which pistons, bearings, gaskets or seals are included. Compare the supplied-parts list with the work planned before ordering additional components.

Can I choose a piston using model and year alone?

Model and year help you find the application, but the piston size must also match the cylinder. Where size grades or oversizes are offered, confirm the cylinder's condition and measurements with your engine builder before ordering. Do not choose a size from engine capacity or appearance alone.

Will the vehicle filter confirm every engine part fits?

It narrows the range using supplier-listed applications. You still need to check the full model, year, variant and any application notes. For a rebuilt or modified engine, compare the part with the specification actually fitted; the filter cannot establish that from the vehicle name.

Where are clutch, fuel and ignition parts?

Browse Drive for clutches and drive belts, Air & Fuel for carburettor and intake parts, or Electrical for ignition and starting electrics. Recoil starters remain in the Engine browse list above.
